Clarifications & Scope Notes

Definitions, limitations, and conditions that remove ambiguous interpretations for heavy-duty dredge pump and subsea cutter specifications.

Wear Life
How is tungsten carbide lining wear life defined?
Lining wear life is measured in operating hours under continuous slurry flow with a maximum particle size of 12 mm and a solids concentration not exceeding 30% by weight. Actual service life depends on abrasive composition, pump speed, and maintenance intervals. The stated 8,000-hour baseline applies to standard harbor silt with a Mohs hardness below 5.
Torque Rating
What conditions apply to the SEC-4000 high-torque rating?
Rated torque of 4,000 N·m is achievable at a hydraulic supply pressure of 250 bar and a flow rate of 120 L/min. Torque output decreases linearly with reduced pressure. The cutter is not rated for continuous operation in rock with unconfined compressive strength above 80 MPa without prior consultation. All torque values are measured at the cutter head output shaft.
Hydraulic Control
Does the HVM-200 manifold guarantee zero leakage?
The proportional hydraulic control valve manifold is designed to meet ISO 4406 cleanliness class 20/18/13 for internal leakage. External leakage is below 0.5 mL/min at 300 bar. Zero-leakage is not guaranteed under thermal cycling below -10°C or above 85°C fluid temperature. Regular seal inspection every 1,500 hours is recommended.
Slurry Transport
What is the maximum solids concentration for the HD-900 pump?
The heavy-duty centrifugal dredge pump HD-900 handles slurry with up to 45% solids concentration by weight for particles below 6 mm. For larger particles up to 50 mm, concentration must not exceed 25%. These limits assume a specific gravity of solids between 1.6 and 2.8. Exceeding these values reduces hydraulic efficiency and accelerates impeller wear.
Subsea Depth
What is the maximum operating depth for subsea cutters?
The SEC-4000 subsea excavation cutter is rated for continuous operation at depths up to 40 meters below water surface. For depths between 40 and 60 meters, a pressure compensation kit is required. Operation beyond 60 meters is not supported without a custom engineering review. Depth ratings assume seawater density of 1,025 kg/m³.
Warranty
What does the standard warranty cover?
The standard warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for 24 months from delivery or 4,000 operating hours, whichever occurs first. Wear parts including tungsten carbide linings, seals, and cutter teeth are excluded. Warranty claims require proof of operation within specified hydraulic and mechanical limits. Misuse, unauthorized modifications, or lack of maintenance voids coverage.
